Worsted Weight Yarn – Sample worked in Vanna’s Choice

A – cranberry 19 yds

B – charcoal 42 yds

C – linen 43 yds

Crochet Hook:

US Size 9/I (5.5) for worsted

Gauge:

Rnds 1 – 5 = 4 ¼”

Abbreviations and Special Stitches:

Single Crochet JoinWith a slip knot on your hook, insert hook into stitch indicated, pull up a loop, yo and pull through booth loops on hook.

Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc)Yo, insert hook from front to back around the post of the stitch indicated, yo and draw up a loop, [yo and draw through two loops] 2 times.

Front Post Treble Crochet (fptr) –Yo twice, insert hook from front to back around the post of the stitch indicated, yo and draw up a loop, [yo and draw through two loops] 3 times.

Double Crochet Two Together (dc2tog) –Worked two stitches. [Yo, insert hook into next stitch, yo, pull up a loop, draw through 2 loops on hook] 2 times, yo, pull up a loop, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Instructions:

Rnd 1:

Rnd 2:

Ch 3 (as dc), fpdc in same st, [(dc, fpdc) in next hdc] 7 times, sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (8 fpdc, 8 dc)

Rnd 3:

Ch 3 (as dc), fpdc in same st, fpdc in next fpdc, [(dc, fpdc) in next dc, fpdc in next fpdc] 7 times, sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off. (16 fpdc, 8 dc)

Rnd 4:

Join color B with a sl st in any dc, ch 3 (as dc), fpdc in same st, fpdc in next 2 fpdc, [(dc, fpdc) in next dc, fpdc in next 2 fpdc] 7 times, sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (24 fpdc, 8 dc)

Rnd 5:

Ch 4 (as tr), 2 dc in same st, *fpdc in next 3 fpdc, hdc in next dc, fpdc in next 3 fpdc, ** (2 dc, tr, 2 dc) in next dc* rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, 2 dc in same st as beg ch-4, sl st to 4th ch of beg ch-4, fasten off. (4 tr, 16 dc, 24 fpdc, 4 hdc)

Rnd 6:

Join color C with a sl st in any tr, ch 4 (as tr), 2 dc in same st, place st marker on last dc made, * fpdc in next 2 dc, fpdc in next 3 fpdc, ch 1, sk next hdc, fpdc in next 3 fpdc, fpdc in next 2 dc, ** (2 dc, tr, 2 dc) in next tr, * rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, 2 dc in same tr as beg ch-4, sl st to 4th ch of beg ch-4, fasten off. (4 tr, 16 dc, 40 fpdc, 4 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 7:

Join color A with a sc in marked dc, remove st marker *fpdc in next 5 fpdc, working in front of ch-1 sp, fptr in next hdc of Rnd 5, fpdc in next 5 fpdc, sc in next 2 dc, sc in next tr, fptr in tr of Rnd 5, sc in same tr as last sc,** sc in next 2 dc * rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, sc in next dc, sl st to beg sc, fasten off. (8 fptr, 40 fpdc, 24 sc)

Rnd 8:

Join color C with a sl st in any corner fptr, ch 3 (as dc), 2 hdc in same st, * hdc in next 3 sc, place st marker in last hdc made (do not repeat placement of marker in following repeats, you will only need one), fpdc in next 5 fpdc, ch 1, sk next fptr, fpdc in next 5 fpdc, hdc in next 3 sc, ** (2 hdc, dc, 2 hdc) in next fptr* rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, 2 hdc in same st as beg ch-3, sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off. Rnd 9:

Join color B with a sl st in marked st of Rnd 8, ch 2 (as hdc), *fpdc around next 5 fpdc, working in front of ch-1 sp, fptr in next fptr of Rnd 7, fpdc in next 5 fpdc, hdc in next 5 hdc, hdc in next dc, fptr around corner fptr of Rnd 7, hdc in same st as last dc,** hdc in next 5 hdc,* rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, hdc in next 4 hdc, sl st to 2nd ch of beg ch 2. (8 fptr, 40 fpdc, 48 hdc)

Rnd 10:

Ch 2 (as hdc), *fpdc in next 5 fpdc, hdc in next fptr, fpdc in next 5 fpdc, hdc in next 6 hdc, (hdc, dc, hdc) in next fptr, ** hdc in next 6 hdc* rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, hdc in next 5 hdc, sl st to beg hdc. (4 dc, 40 fpdc, 60 hdc)

Rnd 11:

Join color C with a sl st in any corner dc, ch 4 (as tr), 2 dc in same st, *dc in next 5 hdc, dc2tog, dc in next 11 sts, dc2tog, dc in next 5 sts,** (2 dc, tr, 2 dc) in next st,* rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, 2 dc in same st as beg ch-4, invisible join to fasten off. (4 tr, 100 dc, 8 dctog)

Finishing:

Weave in any remaining ends. Block according to yarn contents.
