For reference, I will list the yarn colors and ‘special stitch’ instructions at the bottom of this page too.

CLUE #5

We will be using the  LARGER HOOK from here on out.

Rnd 13: (BLO) Join color B with a sc in any corner sc, 2 sc in same st, * sc in each sc and ch across (NOTE- you are working the sc in the back loop of the ch NOT into the ch sp), ** corner as 3 sc in next sc corner * rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, invisible join to fasten off. (120 sc)

NOTE – For a 9” block, stop here. For a larger block…. Keep on going!

Rnd 14: Join color H with a sc in the 3rd sc of any 3-sc corner, sc in next st, *bobble in next st, sc in next 2 sts 9 times, corner as (bobble, ch 2, bobble) in next corner sc, ** sc in next 2 sts* rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, invisible join to fasten off. (44 bobbles, 72 sc, 4 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 15: Join color B with a sc in any corner ch-2 sp, 2 sc in same sp, * sc in next bobble, Lsc in next 2 sc 10 times, sc in next bobble, ** corner as 3 sc in next ch-2 sp,* rep from * to * 3 times ending at ** on final rep, invisible join to fasten off. (80 Lsc, 56 sc)

Joining with a Back Post Single Crochet (bpsc) – With a sl knot on your hook, insert hook from back to front around stitch indicated, draw up a loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook.

Back Post Single Crochet (bpsc) – Insert hook from back to front around the post of stitch indicated, draw up a loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook.

Back Post Half-Double Crochet (bphdc) – Yo, insert hook from back to front around the post of stitch indicated, draw up a loop, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc) – Yo, insert hook from back to front around the post of stitch indicated, draw up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook 2 times.

Beginning Double Crochet 3 Together (beg dc3tog) – Ch 2, (yo, insert hook into next stitch, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through two loops on hook) 2 times, yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Double Crochet Three Together (dc3tog) – (Yo, insert hook into next stitch, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through two loops on hook) 3 times, yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Beginning Cluster (beg cl) – ch 3, (yo, insert hook into stitch indicated, yo, draw up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook), yo, pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Back Loop Only (BLO) – This is the loop farthest away from you regardless of whether you are working with the right side or the wrong side of your block facing you.

Surface Slip Stitch – Decorative slip stitch round added to the top of your work after the rnds have been complete. Form a slip knot, set it aside, insert hook into stitch indicated from front of piece to the back, place slip knot on hook, draw up a loop, insert hook (front to back) into next st, draw up a loop, draw through loop on hook to complete the slip st, continue around in this fashion, invisible join to fasten off.

Cable – Worked over the next 3 sts, ch 3, sk 2 sts, sc in next st, TURN, sc in next 2 chs, sl st in next sc, TURN, sc in next 2 skipped sts.

Corner Cable – Worked ONLY in the corner st, ch 3, sc in same corner st, TURN, sc in next 2 chs, sl st in next sc, TURN, work 2 sc in same corner st (between the first 2 sc that are already there.

Bobble – Yo, insert hook into st indicated, yo, draw up a loop, yo pull through 2 loops on hook 5 times, yo, pull through all 6 loops on hook, pushing bobble to front if necessary.

Long Single Crochet (Lsc) – Insert hook into base of stitch indicated, yo, draw up a loop the height of your current row, keeping this loop loose so as not to gather the work inward, yo, pull through both loops on hook.

Pattern Notes: All stitches are worked through both loops unless otherwise noted. Pattern is written in Standard American Terms.
